Yes.
Believe it or not, but Anet actually cares about pve balance, and they showed this when they nerfed ursan.
They didn't lose any customers from what I can see. People who quit had already payed. People weren't just buying GW to Use ursan and farm. That's like going to a bar just to eat the peanuts and watch tv, instead of getting wasted

Before the nerf no UB ment not getting in a group in DOA. Now UB or non UB you cant get in a group. The place is deserted.
So in a way ANET got rid of the UB discrimination

You shouldn't have to buy an entire game just to have participation in PuGs.
My question to these people who quit 'cause of the Ursan nerf: Why did you buy Guild Wars when Ursan was near enough the opposite of Guild Wars?

This is the one reason I miss Ursan. It made it easy to get into groups for the elite areas.
On the other hand, the skill actually synergizes well with other skills now. The Ursan Roar is a great skill for spiking huge mobs. And since you aren't utterly useless (energyless) when it ends, it encourages one to drop the form early to use more effective attacks or run skills.
I like PvE skills. Ursan, Sniper Support, and Assassin Support are fun.
And the way Ursan Roar now has you follow enemies to cast it is way cool.

Depends upon who those people were who loved it - and since we know who those people are, we know that it was little loss.

I didn't like the nerf. I've said it before, I'll say it again. If there was indeed a vast majority of the people who wanted to play without it, they could have easily found likeminded players and went ahead to form groups without it. Since they apparently couldn't, they complained until they got their way. Thus, the will of a vocal miniority was imposed on a larger group who were actually having fun the way things were.
But, even beyond that, it underscores the the idea that Anet really doesn't know what the hell they want the game to be well after the release. There is no consistency in the game and you can't count on anything you like in the game being a permanent feature. That is one of the prime reasons I won't be going to GW2.

i think he did read the whole post. you seem to think he was criticizing you because he thought that you said anet would lose customers due to the ursan nerf. he was in fact criticizing you for criticizing people who think that anet lost customers by nerfing ursan. so when he says "think about it before you comment" he indeed means you, and not "they"(the people who were saying anet lost customers).
i don't necessarily agree or disagree with either one of you, just trying to clear up what he actually said.

It is not in anet's financial interest to keep all the old players hogging the servers till GW2 comes out.

i assume you think that nerfing ursan is appealing to older players and unappealing to potential buyers. i don't necessarily agree with that but that isn't what im posting about.
i'd like to know from which school you acquired your degree in business management. i only ask because you seem to think you're qualified to predict the financial outcome of anet's policies. perhaps you don't think that maintaining a player-base might benefit anet - by increasing the sales of gw2 - enough to outweigh the benefits of trying to attract new players to a 3 year old game.
i don't have enough education in the proper fields to argue with you. it'd just be reassuring to know that your statement isn't as worthless as mine.

Well... if you had read the whole post you would notice that I was defending someone else, but meh
OT:
Seriously, people don't buy a game for just one thing. Especially one thing as small as a pve skill.

The facts being;
1/ We were told that they would never nerf Ursan (granted this was by Gaile Gray, and changed by Regina).
2/ They gave us the power to be gods of PvE, and then took it away (I'm assuming this MOX garbage is their answer to get people playing again after the mass loss of clients due to the Ursan nerf).
3/ The nerf broke up a lot of guilds, and forced a lot of people who'd spent so much time ranking their Norn points up so they could finally be accepted into a group, to quit playing.
4/ They don't need to run a test on reapplying Ursan...I'm sure they already know how much the nerf killed the world of PvE.
5/ I'll assume that Ursan was the only thing you were capable of doing for FoW and UW runs, and are desperate to have it back...if only for a week. It took us...what...1 day before we had several new team setups to run these? Ursan nerfed isn't the end of the world, but I will agree, it did kill the playing population to a rather large extent.

1) We were told a lot of things. Your point?
2) They gave you the power to overcome an obstacle that you weren't good enough to do with regular skills. I doubt that MOX is to get people who quit GW because of an ursan nerf come back.
3) Guilds that broke up due to ursan being nerfed are bad guilds, and I don't think anyone cares that these guilds are gone. Quitting a game because you spent hours grinding something that is now pretty worthless is, well, pretty stupid.
4) The only thing it killed was bad players. With ursan gone, bad players quit, and less bad players in a game community is good.
I do have one question to those who have wuit the game due to the ursan nerf - What in God's name did you do before EotN?

I play alot of PVE. Did so before the nerf and still do. I also PUG alot. I like helping newer players and figure actually playing with someone is a better way to see if they would be a good addition to my guild than just spamming invites in town. The reason I mention this is that in the course of my normal style of play I have seen that there are still plenty of people playing and teams being formed throughout GW.
Of course certain areas that are more difficult have much less traffic than they once did but they are called elite areas for a reason. A player must master his character and develop his skill before participating in those areas. I expect that there are alot of people, who became accustomed to the drops found in DOA, that are now learning to play non UB builds well enough to go back eventually.
But PVE is not dead because of the UB nerf. People are playing. People are learning to play better. PVE was actually dead before the UB nerf because stagnation is death.
